its been awhile now since i picked up the pen
it feels like my days are getting cloudy i need to let out the pain
the days go by this world never stops
in this jungle of streets people at war with the cops
is my city where you gotta be fit to survive
bullet holes and chalk outlines the difference between being dead or alive
where the night sky is only lighten by the ghetto birds lights
the silent of the night broken by gun shots and fights
a place where kids shave their heads to look cool
where you rather tag walls than go to school
where even the school yards are caged in like a cell
cops patroling the area at each ringing bell
where fights break out over a different color
a place where a hard look could land you in the hospital
where you can cross one street and be safe and the next you may die
a hatred that leaves every one blind
over family feuds that have streched over years
little nieces and nephews shedding tears
then grow up seekign revenge
throwing gang signs and hard looks cheating death
is the way of life growing up in these streets
