I'm not accepting Chicano.. because I don't have CHICANO blood in me. I have Mexican blood in me. You kind me someone who came FROM Mexico who was called a Chicano, and I'll say "Okay, then I guess I could be considered Chicano." Until then, people in Mexico are known as Mexicans, I was born by a man from Mexico and a mother who was Mexican. Nothing about that says chicano in my mind. I don't care that if you're born from here, you need some other kind of name, to help people know that you're originally from here.
If you need people to know you were bron in the states, by giving yourself another name, you're a weak person. Don't sugarcoat who you are. You're a fuckin' Mexican. You're not Chicano, or whatever else dumb people want to call you. Be proud of where your parents, or their parents come from. You're a Mexican, because you're inevitably from MEXICO.
You ever notice, we're the only group of people who, when born in the States, feels we need to label ourselves something easier for white people to cope with? People with parents from China... Chinese. People with parents from Canada... Canadian. People with parents from the Jamaica... Jamaican. People with parents from Mexico... Chicano?!?!
Stop trying to be accepted for something you are not (which is Chicano, a white man-made word) And just be yourself. A Mexican. Better to not be accepted for who you are, then to be accepted for someon you're not.
VIVA MEXICANS!
