Acapulco beach was still reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Otis, with dozens of sunken boats scattered along the coastline, marked by buoy markers or protruding from the water. Kristian Vera, a 44-year-old fisher, was among those who had lost everything in the storm, but her thoughts were with the victims and their families. Mexican authorities had raised the death toll to 39 with 10 still missing and with the number of people who had ventured out on boats during the tropical storm, it is expected to rise. Fortunately, the military was on hand to provide much-needed assistance, bringing hope to the affected communities. As the clean-up efforts continue, the spirit of resilience and cooperation among those affected is a testament to the human spirit in the face of adversity.
