Mis jefitos
Sometimes I slow down and see the world and around me,
I stop and think if they see what I see,
We have grown so far apart,
They have the old days and I have the new,
My life is all about wearing the red or the blue,
Cutting class and drinking a brew,
I wonder if I disappoint them,
For it is something I never meant to do.
They wake up with the birds and never complain,
They work and work, regardless of their pain,
They still see something in me,
A life to be,
Maybe something big,
A lawyer or a doctor, something that they never had an opportunity to be,
I want them to know that I love them,
I appreciate everything they do,
But I don?t know how to tell them,
My pops is tired , and my mom is too,
We hardly speak, just shout,
Sometimes I feel there is no way out,
But for what it?s worth I want to say,
That I love them and miss them everyday,
I don?t want us to become strangers in our own home,
Because you are the foundation in to I have grown,
I see my mama?s sandpaper hands fix me a hot plate,
And I appreciate,
All I want to tell you both ,
That I love you before it?s too late.
