History What was Happiness for the Aztecs?

The Aztecs were a fascinating civilization, and their concept of happiness was not what we expect today. As they believed that feeling joy was not linked to living the best life possible, they had a different perspective altogether. They thought that human beings were prone to mistakes and failures, so even the most intelligent of them could experience setbacks. Happiness was, therefore, seen as a temporary and random matter. Instead of just striving for happiness, they focused on living a dignified life, which they called "neltiliztli". It certainly is interesting to see how the Aztecs looked at life, and how their beliefs differed from what we commonly believe today.
