The Mexican government discovered the whereabouts of Ricardo Ruiz Velasco, the alleged leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, also known as “Double R” or “El Youtuber.”
But, how did the army come to discover the location of the drug lord? It all started with a video clip for a "narcocorrido" song, a musical style that talks about drug traffickers and their business.
As reported by VICE, the artist Luis R. Conríquez is known by the authorities for being the exclusive singer of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel. In fact, Conríquez recently released a song called “Las Hazañas del Doble R,” where he sings about Ruiz's operations for the cartel.
Apparently, this singer entertained cartel parties and, thanks to videos posted on social networks and a video clip, the authorities were able to identify the location of El YouTuber's ranch: on the border between the Jalisco and Zacatecas mountains.
Ruiz is the man behind the propaganda videos of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), hence his nickname "El YouTuber." In turn, the Mexican authorities point to Ruiz as the top commander of the CJNG, which operates in the states of Jalisco, Michoacán and Colima.
