Rebelde actress Ninel Conde has strongly objected to the content, alleging that she was a "mistress, escort, and involved in money laundering" for a Mexican Cartel figure.
Conde filed a lawsuit against author Anabel Hernández and publisher Penguin Random House, asserting that the printed claims in the book "Emma y Las Otras Señoras del Narco" (Emma and Other Narco Women) are defamatory, painting her as a paid companion and accomplice in money laundering for the deceased crime boss Arturo Beltrán Leyva.
