The portrayal of Mexico in Western Media regarding the drug war is often filled with negativity and sensationalism. However, what the media fails to address is their own country's culpability in this violent conflict. The insatiable appetite for drugs in the West provides the demand that fuels the drug trade, which is a significant factor in the drug wars plaguing Mexico. Furthermore, weapons trafficked illegally to Mexico from the US have contributed to the country's plight. It's high time the media focused on this issue as the root cause of Mexico's drug wars, and not just on the sensationalism.
