Mexico's Agriculture U.S Corn farmers are worried about Mexico's ban on GMO corn

Mexican agriculture is based on a variety of crops, including maize (corn), wheat, beans, rice, and coffee. Mexico is one of the world’s leading producers of these crops. Mexican farmers also grow a variety of fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes, avocados, strawberries, and squash.

GMO corn will be banned for human consumption after 2024,

The president of Mexico @AMLO said his country plans to phase out GMO corn by 2024.
and will only be used for animal feed. Soon after the announcement, major ag cooperation from the U.S went to work and started funding surveys that would help make their case for selling GMOs to Mexicans or at least trying to scare them from stopping the import purchase of GMO corn completely.

Below is a news story from texasfarmbureau about the potential impact of a GMO import ban.

You can almost see the crocodile tears from here. I'd expect the Republican President (AT THE TIME OF THE BAN) to put economic pressure on Mexico to force the toxic corn into Mexico, at which point it will be like the Opium wars in China. Where a western country moved to force a country into allowing the sale of dangerous substances.
