If you don't want to tell him just don't answer the phone and if he catches you say you are busy. Just do everything you can to stop communicating with him. He will eventually get the message. If you see him at a club or whatever and he says Hi just say Hi back but don't talk to him and walk away. Hanging out with another guy or your girl friend helps too. Silent treatment is also very effective.
