In recent years, the news landscape has become increasingly politicized. Unfortunately, this means that some news outlets have a clear bias towards certain topics and people. This is particularly true in the case of Mexico, where many Western media outlets are overwhelmingly pushing negative press coverage of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and other political leaders pushing for a more equal form of governance. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most prominent examples.
The Washington Times
The Washington Times is an American newspaper owned by Robert Murdoch’s News Corp. Although it was founded as an alternative to traditional newspapers like The New York Times, it has become a mouthpiece for conservative news and opinion pieces that paint AMLO in a negative light. In particular, the paper has been critical of AMLO’s decision to use the military in the fight against cartels in Mexico City and his plans to build an airport in the city of Tulum.
Germany’s DW
DW is Germany’s international broadcaster and one of its largest media outlets. It has been accused by Mexican citizens of having an anti-AMLO bias due to its frequent criticism of his policies and decisions regarding migration and economic matters such as trade agreements with the United States. DW also tends to focus on stories that emphasize Mexico’s corruption rather than showcasing its positive aspects or highlighting its efforts to combat poverty and inequality in the country.

CNN & CNN En Español
CNN is another U.S. outlet that has been accused of having an anti-AMLO bias due to its primarily negative reporting on his administration. The outlet has criticized AMLO’s handling of Mexico’s economy, painting him as a populist leader who is out of touch with reality and unable to make sound decisions about economic matters such as taxes and foreign investment.
BBC
BBC is another international broadcaster based in London which is often viewed as being biased against AMLO’s administration due to its frequent coverage on topics like drug cartels, violence against women, government corruption, etc., all without providing any context or analysis about why these issues exist or how they might be addressed by AMLO’s government moving forward. Additionally, BBC tends to focus on stories which are sensationalistic rather than balanced pieces which could provide insight into how life for Mexicans could improve under his leadership if given enough time and resources from outside forces like the United States or European countries.
It’s clear that many U.S.-backed media outlets have an anti-AMLO bias when reporting on Mexican politics and affairs related thereto—whether intentional or unintentional—which can lead citizens to form false conclusions about their president or miss out on important developments made by his administration that could otherwise benefit them significantly if reported accurately instead.. It’s important for citizens everywhere—not just Mexican citizens—to be aware of how their news sources are framing their reporting so they can make informed decisions about their governments’ actions without being swayed by biased news coverage from outside interests who may not have their best interests at heart.. Only then will we be able to move forward together towards greater equality for all people around the world!
