After the now infamous leak revealed racism in the LA City Council, many are angling for power in one of America’s most divers cities.  an interesting fact overlooked by the media, perhaps conveniently, was the racism was also directed at Mexicans from Oaxaca.

If this was a deliberate attempt by the media to shape this into a Black vs Mexican story thereby weakening any future Latino power structure in the city of L.A remains to be seen, but what is already evident today is the media  has begun calling for a new generation of Latinos, and make no mistake the “Latinos” they promote will be ones that are in line with their liberal values and not ones with the average Mexican American family values.

What the LA City Council members did is inexcusable, along with hurting Black-Mexican relations, they also set-back any near-and-future political Latino figures, as any new Latino Council members will be weary of being labeled as anti-black and being too pro Latino every time he or she needs to make a decision.
